Monday Jammu and Kashmir government informed that the salary and pension bills of legislators in the state have increased from Rs 7,896 crore from last year to Rs 14,740 crore at present.
"While the salary bill 2001-2002 was of the order of about Rs 3,591 crore it jumped to Rs 7896 crore in 2008-2009 and is touching Rs 14,740 crore at present," Chief Minister Omar Abdullah told the Legislative Assembly while speaking on a bill to hike the salaries of former and present Legislators.
